Week 1, 5 weeks late

The I.T.E. residency started off with a bang on June 1. We all arrived mid afternoon on the 1st and immediately hit the ground running by taking part in the Echo Lake collaboration, which was held at Bucks County Community College about 45 minutes North of Philadelphia. Although, at first, it seemed like a very abrupt beginning, it ended up being the perfect way to start off our residency. It allowed us to get to know and work with each other immediately, while also meeting many other great and talented artists at Echo Lake.
Each of us are assigned our own private room in the dorms of University of the Arts, which is the heart of Center City Philadelphia. As you can see in the photos, they are spacious but "rustic". I love the tall ceilings and large windows. Thankfully we have our own spaces with kitchens and bathrooms.

The photo below was taken at Echo Lake. I collaborated with several people to make a variety of objects, which were auctioned off at Saturday night's dinner/auction. The tall pillar object in the foreground is the beginning's of a table I work on with: Michael Mocho, Beth Ireland and Linda VanGehutchten. I also collaborated with other people to make: a spoon, a flask, a lino print and collection of miniatures. Echo Lake was great fun and I am thankful for the experience.
Literally right after dropping off our suitcases into our dorms we shared our first meal at Geno's Steaks in South Philly. After stuffing ourselves with cheese steaks we headed off for our 3 day Echo Lake adventure.
